Passion
In the words of Ian Baggett, our founding trustee, “Adderstone Group’s day job is regenerating and enhancing built environments, so why wouldn’t we do our bit to help safeguard our communities?” The Adderstone Foundation and Adderstone Group have long been committed to giving ex-offenders a second chance, empowering individuals to rebuild their lives and careers, whilst reducing re-offending rates in the process.

EAB Inaugral Chair, HMP Northumberland
In 2022, Ian Baggett, was appointed as the inaugural Chair of the Employment Advisory Board (EAB) for HMP Northumberland. The EAB aims to bridge the gap between incarceration and employment, working with local businesses to create meaningful job opportunities for individuals as they transition out of prison. The EAB focuses on practical support, from helping with travel expenses and interview attire to securing ongoing mentorship for newly released prisoners.
Fundraiser in conjunction with Recruitment Junction
In collaboration with Recruitment Junction, Adderstone Foundation hosted an event in which industry experts, including Lindsay Blackmore ad Beverly Brooks, shared their insights from working with ex-offenders. The event brought together employers from across the North East to discuss the benefits and challenges of hiring individuals with criminal backgrounds, helping to shift attitudes towards fair employment practices.
Employability and Prison Reform Panel Event – Durham University
Ian Baggett attended a talk panel at Durham University which collaborated between academia and the third sector industry. The panel included Beverley Brooks from Recruitment Junction and James Timpson, who has helped thousands of people with convictions get second chances through employment. This event emphasised the importance of collaborative efforts to reform the prison system and provide sustainable job opportunities for those transitioning out of incarceration.
