Nicola Williamson, who works for Adderstone Group, sadly lost her mum to cancer in 2014. During the sad time her family were made aware of the work carried out by Maggie’s cancer charity and in May 2015 her father decided to contact the centre for support.
Maggie’s supports local people with cancer as well as their friends and family. They ensure that those affected have the practical, emotional and social support that they need during what is a very difficult period.
Ian Williamson received lots of support from Maggie’s and wanted to give back and help others in a similar position to him. He bravely completed a firewalk in November last year to try and raise as much money for them as possible. Firewalking consists of walking barefoot over a bed of coals which can reach a temperature of 1,200 degrees. Thankfully, Ian completed the firewalk without burning his feet!
The staff at Adderstone Group were quick to support Ian and they helped him exceed his £200 sponsorship target, alongside the decision by Adderstone Foundation to match any funding received through Adderstone Foundation for his cause.
Ian has raised £275 so far through his Just Giving page, if you would like to donate towards this amazing cause or find out more about Ian’s story please visit… www.justgiving.com/Ian-Williamson14
