Team Adderstone raise £464.44 for the Charlie Cookson Foundation

Through a range of events Adderstone Foundation raised over £450 during a busy week of fundraising in April 2017.

The staff at Adderstone Group made an excellent effort to raise £464.44 from a selection of events which included an ‘Adderstone Bake off’, wear blue day, treasure hunt along Newcastle’s famous Grey Street and a charity raffle.

The Charlie Cookson Foundation was set up in memory of Charlie Cookson who sadly lost his battle to an undiagnosed illness in October 2013, at the tender age of two and a half.

The Foundation provides financial support to parents of seriously ill children with life limiting conditions that require 24-hour nursing care or specialist nursing facilities. Located in South Shields, the charity aims to raise awareness of the difficulties faced by parents and carers who care for seriously ill children.

Throughout the month of April many local businesses, schools and individuals got behind the Foundation and raised funds for the cause. April 13th 2017 marked Charlie’s birthday where he would have been six years old.

The highlight of the fundraising week for Adderstone Foundation was the treasure hunt, which took place along Grey Street on the evening of Thursday 27th April. Members of staff were split into three teams and then it was up to each team to follow the treasure hunt route and answer as many questions as possible. The evening ended at The Botanist where everyone had to guess in millimetres the distance from the bar top to the roof. For those of you who have visited The Botanist in Newcastle will know that it’s not an easy question!

Overall, it was a rewarding and enjoyable week. A massive thank you to all the staff at Adderstone Group who got behind the charity and donated their time and money.
