The Great North Run took place on 7th September 2014, with more than 56,000 runners racing the route from Newcastle to South Shields.
Two of the runners were our very own staff; Jane Gillings and Emma Wimble, who raised money for Lymphoma & Leukaemia Research and the British Heart Foundation respectively.
Jane and Emma crossed the line together with an impressive time of 2 hours 18 minutes.
Jane explained that: "It was one of the hardest things I've ever done, but it was made so much easier because of the amazing crowds spurring me on all the way!
"As a result of Adderstone Foundation's matched giving scheme for staff it meant I could give so much more money to Lymphoma & Leukaemia Research!"
Jane and Emma raised a combined total of over £550 which was matched by Adderstone Foundation through the matched giving scheme.
The scheme exists to encourage staff to engage in fundraising activities through their own participation in sponsored events.
Every staff member employed by Adderstone Group is entitled to claim up to a maximum of £300 each year from the matched giving scheme, to be donated to a charity of their choice.
